Kathy and Sam's Wedding

Wow. What an amazing wedding. They got married in Costa Mesa at the Turnip Rose at Grand Newport Plaza. I could not stop picking images so get ready for a long post.

While the girls were getting ready the guys were busy too... smoking cigars.

Flower Allie did an incredible job on the florals.

The beautiful bride.

The groom was looking pretty good too.

Probably my favorite image of the day.

A couple fun moments during the slideshow.

A sweet ring shot to finish it off.

Must try and remember everything...

1) Your favourite might be my favourite of them too. But I also love the first half dozen photos as stand out favourites of mine too - the dresses, the first one or two of Kathy, I really liked those especially (naturally though, all the others are still good!)

2) In what you labelled ksw26, one during the ceremony - what's the slightly fuzzy brown thing half way down the right edge? A chair back or something? It was just distracting enough to notice - normally I'd worry about telling someone, but your images are always so good, that I doubt you'd want one dipping below the "Excellent" mark - hope that's how this comes across, anyway!

And 3) - your twitter comment about being in the McCain pit and feeling inadequate. Don't make me come all the way to CA to smack you upside the head - you're a great photographer, and so you should have realised by now, that it's not all in the camera, it's how you use it! You could give a toddler a 5D and they'd still manage an OK shot, or you could give Ansell Adams a point and shoot disposable and he'd still turn out a phenomenal shot (well OK Adams died in '84, but I love his photos, and the point is still valid). Besides, I've got a 400D (or Digital Rebel XTi to you guys), and I've still managed some nice shots. Might help if I knew more about lighting and stuff. Could fit what I know on a postage stamp - I'm all about the "ooh, what if I change this setting, how's that change the photo?" - lots of fun, but a bit stressful in one-shot-only occasions!

I have had lots of fun learning stuff this year though, I'm doing a 366 challenge - there's a theme for each day of the year and you have to cover all the themes by December 31st (using only images taken since January 1st).

Beautiful...love the shot of the guys near the pool smoking.

I think the brown "fuzzy" thing is the fountain. Not much a photographer can do about that when you are trying to grab a moment. If you move, you miss it.

Kathy looked gorgeous! I would have to say though that my favorite picture is the one of the guys smoking the cigars; classic moment you caught there.

Steve's exactly right. It was the fountain, and it was either sit on one of the guest's lap or get the shot and have the edge of the fountain in there. Sometimes its about compromising the "perfect" image to get the shot. It was a little bit of a bummer to have it in there but I think the emotion in it was the main point of the image, not perfect composition.

I love your photography and your blog. Question: on my blogspot, I can't get the photos as large as the ones you post. Can you explain here how that's done -- making your photos larger than the template allows?

thanks
