No more 9 to 5...

In a week and a half I'm jumping into the deep end without a life preserver. I'm leaving my present job and going full time with photography... no back-up plan, no safety net. Just me and my cameras. I'm ecstatic about the possibilities but a little nervous as well. I'm so blessed to have a wife that understands me and is right on board with me pursuing my dreams. I couldn't have asked for a better partner in life.

Things are awesome right now. It seems like I get calls and emails from new brides every day and its all because of you guys. I don't do any advertising, all of my business comes from word of mouth. So every bride that comes my way, comes because of something you guys have said. So, thanks! Its amazing how we start out as photographer/couple and by the time the big day rolls around it's like hanging out at a friends wedding... taking thousands of pictures, haha. I love you guys. I can't wait for all of your weddings!

Brianna and Alan

We went down to Laguna Beach today to shoot engagement photos with Brianna and Alan. We had such a great time and got some awesome shots. They were so much fun and literally up for anything. You can totally tell how much they love each other because the entire two hours they never stopped smiling. Alan keeps Brianna laughing all the time. It was so much fun.

I love Fridays

Today I had a meeting with another bride and her wedding planner. It was my first time meeting with a wedding planner and I was a bit nervous. I figured since she was working for the bride and groom that she would be trying to get them the best deal possible, which is often the case. So I went into the meeting with a mindset that I would have to defend myself, my product and prices. It couldn't have been any different. The first thing she told me is how much she liked my work and then she asked me a rather strange question... "why are you prices so low?" haha. That's a heck of a lot better than having to fight to get my price! I told her that I was new to the field but after these first few weddings that I would be raising my prices considerably. The rest of the meeting was great. Karli, the wedding planner, seems like a great person to work with and I couldn't be more excited to shoot Olivia and Jose. One of the things that most excited me about working with them is that they want to do their engagement shoot at The Getty Museum. How awesome is that going to be!

So I met with them for lunch and then right after the meeting I drove down to Riverside to do the videography for Chase and Amy's wedding with my good friend Trever. It was alot of fun and they had the sweetest music at their ceremony. They hired some friends of mine to do the music. So they had a piano, a rhodes, some pads, cello and violin and they played these amazing versions of songs by Coldplay, Death Cab For Cutie, Album Leaf... it was amazing. Chase and Amy walked out to this amazing arrangement of Beautiful Day by U2. I wish I knew those guys when I got married... back then it was considered "unconventional" that Cyndie walked down to Pachelbel's Canon in D. Oh well.

It was a great day. I can't wait to start editing the footage from the ceremony and reception. I think its gonna be awesome.

If you already have a photographer for your wedding, send me an email about videography. It's like nothing you've ever seen.
