Katherine and Andrew

Last Saturday I met Katherine and Andrew in Laguna Beach for their engagement shoot. We spent about an hour roaming the streets of Laguna Beacha and eventually made our way over to the beach for sunset. I had so much fun hanging out with them. Its awesome when my clients end up being people I'd hang out with whether they were clients or not. I'm really looking forward to shooting their wedding next month in Malibu. Here are a few from the day!

Studio Photography

No, not the kind you're thinking of.

Last month I had the pleasure of shooting some promo shots for the Los Angeles Guitar Quartet. Last week they were recording their new album up in beautiful Marin County, north of San Francisco, and they invited me up to get some shots of them recording for their album artwork.

Cyndie and I decided we'd make a trip of it so we packed up, put Makenzie in the car and drove up. Cyndie's parents live up there so they hung out there while I was working.

On Wednesday I drove up to Skywalker Sound, the studio, which happens to be on Skywalker Ranch. Funny name for a Ranch, huh? Unless its owned by George Lucas. The place was unbelievable. This was a special treat for me. Not only did I get to go there and photograph them at an incredible location, I used to own a recording studio in my former life. So I was just in heaven. All of the things I dreamed of having in my studio were right in front of me. Also, I got a lot of "less than talented" groups coming to record at my studio so being in this world class studio, with some of the greatest musicians in the world was just incredible. I love my job.

Here are a few images from the day. This was right outside the studio.

Jenny and Cameron's Wedding

Las week I shot Jenny and Camerons wedding. It was held at the beautiful Chart House Restaurant in Dana Point over looking the Harbor. Its a great venue if you're having an intimate wedding. Jenny's family flew halfway across the world to see her get married which made it really special for them. It was a beautiful day with awesome weather.

Jenny and Cameron are so in love and were awesome in front of the camera. I think one of the reasons they were so comfortable in from of the camera was because of their engagement session a couple months ago. They were really tentative at the beginning of the session but by the end they were totally at ease which made the pictures on the wedding day that much better. Every now and then I'll get a couple that wants to save money by cutting out the engagement session. I totally understand if it just can't be fit into the budget but I think its worth so much more than just the pictures you get from it. Getting to know me and how I work behind the camera, and getting cmfortable in front of the camera is, I think, equally as valuable. Here are a few from the day.

Chanlyma and Jesus

I know I haven't been posting much, I've been too busy shooting. I'll be blogging alot this week, but to make it up to you this one will be extra long.

Saturday I drove over to one of my favorite locations, The Mission Inn, in Riverside. I've shot there several times before but last time I was kicked out. Apparently they want you to pay to shoot there... who knew. Well this time we were very, very sneaky. Not really. I've always believed that you can get in just about anywhere if you act like you belong. So we just walked right in the front door, up the grand staircase and past everyone. No one asked us a thing. That doesn't mean we were'nt keeping an eye out for "the man" but, hey, we got the shots we wanted.

After a while there we drove over to UC Riverside. Chanlyma and Jesus met there in college so they wanted to get a few pics where it all began.

Here are a few of my favorites from the day!
